Resolution with McDonald's (Inner West Scheme next to McDonald's)

Dependable Strata addressed residents' complaints about rubbish from a nearby 24-hour McDonald's by sending formal letters. After a meeting with McDonald's management, the company agreed to increase staff patrols, install an additional bin, and set up direct communication with Strata Management.

Problem

The complex is located in front of a busy 24hrs McDonald's. Multiple complaints were received regarding the McDonald’s rubbish left outside the residential building from McDonald's customers especially on late nights and on weekends.

Action

Formal letters were sent to McDonald's Headquarters outlining the concerns of the residents including a number of requests asking McDonald's to be a responsible business. McDonald's took the matter seriously and a meeting was arranged between Dependable, Strata Committee and the management of McDonald's.

Result

McDonald's has agreed that there will be regular patrol by the staff members to clean up the rubbish left behind by their customers. The increased patrol will also monitor the desirable behavior. An additional bin was installed near the residential building to collect all the extra rubbish. A direct communication has been set up between Strata Management and McDonald's so that any issues going forward can be reported directly.
